Tips for longarm quilting
PREPARE QUILT TOP press seams | remove loose threads | stay stitch intricate piecing around the perimeter | if directional, mark the top with safety pin & a note
BACKING mark the top if directional | backing must be 4” larger on all sides | wideback fabrics – great for large quilts | piece backings with half inch seam & press open | remove selvage on the seam | leave seams horizontal if possible |
leave selvages on the outside perimeter | check if sides are square
BATTING must be 4” larger on all sides | if pieced, sew side by side with broken zigzag and place scrim face down
QUARTER SANDWICH TEST fold quilt top, batting and backing into quarters, stack the layers and check if they are the required size

BINDING optional – prepare binding to be added on the longarm after quilting
QUILTING think about how you wish for your quilt to be quilted | options include edge to edge, semi custom, custom | density | pattern style
